ADJUSTMENTS TO BE MADE TO THE RULES OF PESSAH WHEN
THE FIRST SEDER IS ON SATURDAY NIGHT
LIKE THIS YEAR 2021
A VERY SINGULAR YEAR
Thirty days before Pesach we begin to review the Halakhot (laws) of Pesach. And this year we have an unusual situation: the first night of Pesach, the first Seder, will be held on Saturday night, March 27. And the eve of Pesach, then, will fall on Shabbat, that is: Friday night, March 26 and then on Saturday, March 27. The last time the eve of Pesach fell on a Shabbat was in 2008. and in the future it will happen again in 2025 and then 2045!
When this happens we make some adjustments, on the one hand to keep the sanctity and honor of Shabbat intact, and on the other hand, to take good care of all the Halakhic principles of Pesach.
FAST OF THE FIRST-BORN
According to various rabbinic opinions (Sh.A., OH, 470: 2), when the eve of Pesach falls on Shabbat like this year, the firstborn are exempted from fasting. Other options hold that firstborns should fast the previous Thursday. It is recommended then to participate in the completion of a Talmudic treatise (Siyum), as we do every year, to avoid this fast with a celebratory meal in honor of this event. The Siyum should take place on Thursday, March 25, in the morning (you can participate in person or by Zoom).
BEDIKAT HAMETZ :LAST INSPECTION OF THE HAMETZ
Normally, we do the last inspection of the Chametz (bediqa), checking that there is nothing Chametz left in our house, the night before the night of the Seder. However, when Pesach eve falls on Shabbat, the final inspection of the Chametz must take place two nights before the Seder: that is, Thursday night, March 25, at nightfall. (the rules of Bediqat Chametz are similar to the rules of every other year).
BI’UR (elimination) AND SELLING OF THE CHAMETZ
On Friday, March 26, one must burn the leftovers of Chametz and proceed to sell his or her Chametz before 11.43 a.m., although technically this year all this could be done later in the day, in practice, it is advisable to do it at the same time that we do it every year).
TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT BREAD DURING THIS SHABBAT?
One of the ways we honor Shabbat is by having celebratory meals, that is: doing Kiddush, making HaMotzi, and reciting Bircat HaMazon after the meal. Normally, we use two "chalot" (lechem mishne) for HaMotzi. The question is: what should we do when Pesach eve falls on Shabbat to recite the HaMotzi and the Bircat haMazon blessing?
MAKING HAMOTZI WITH BREAD, (Pita)
you could have bread on Friday night and during Shabbat on Saturday, March 27, until 10.26 am
√ All food prepared and eaten for this Shabbat must be kosher for Pesach, except obviously for the actual bread (it is recommended to use pita bread because it produces fewer crumbs) which will be used for HaMotzi on Friday night and Shabbat morning,
√ It is recommended to first eat the bread with some spreads or salads - taking care not to spread crumbs in the house - and then continue with the rest of the meal (some families wrap the bread and / or eat it in a different place to avoid as much as possible Chametz leftovers).
√ It is advisable to use disposable plates, tablecloths, cutlery, etc.
√ On Shabbat March 27 in the morning, you should pray earlier than usual and finish the meal with bread before 10:26 a.m..
√ After the morning Shabbat meal and by 11.42: am , You should dispose of all leftover Chametz , Do the Bitul Chametz (kal chamira), the verbal declaration by which you renounce the possession of any Chametz that belongs to you, and could have been left involuntarily in your property or possession.
√ Se'uda Shelishit (the third meal of Shabbat, which is usually done close to sunset) should be done earlier than usual (around 2:00 - 3.00 p.m. with Matza Ashira, this is: egg Matza, which is mezonot, or with meat, fish, fruits or vegetables.

Comment rechercher et brûler le Hamets :
Il est indispensable – pour être prêts pour la fête- de consacrer les semaines qui précèdent Pessah à un nettoyage radical des lieux qui sont sous notre responsabilité. Néanmoins , nous devons tout de même effectuer, la veille de Pessah, une recherche minutieuse du Hamets susceptible d’avoir été oublié. Cette année, le JEUDI 25 MARS , on recherchera le Hamets dans toute la maison à la lueur d’une bougie, dès la tombée de la nuit.
Marche à suivre :
a) Avant de débuter la recherche, la coutume est de cacher à travers la maison, dix petits morceaux de pain, enveloppés dans du papier (afin qu’ils ne s’éparpillent pas). Il faudra s’assurer de les récupérer dans leur totalité.
b) On prépare une assiette, ou un sac en papier, on allume une bougie, on éteint les lumières (de préférence), et on récite la bénédiction suivante :
Baroukh Ata Ado-nai Elo-hénou Meleh Haolam Acher Kidéchanou Bemitzvotav Vetsivaou al Biour Hamets.
Bénis sois-tu E-ternel notre D-ieu , Roi de l’univers, qui nous a sanctifié par Ses
commandements et nous a ordonné de détruire le Hamets.
c) On recherche le Hamets dans chaque pièce et dans tout endroit de la maison pouvant contenir du Hamets, cave, grenier, garage ou voiture.
On fait cette recherche SANS PARLER.
Après la recherche, et après avoir ramassé tout le Hamets, et l’avoir déposé dans l’assiette ou le sac, on récite la formule suivante :
Kal Hamira vehamira, déika birchouté, de la hazité, ou dela biarté, oudela yadanalé,
Livtil véléhévé kéafra déaraa.
Que tout Hamets, levain ou matière levée, qui se trouve en ma possession, que je n’ai pas vu ou que je n’ai pas détruit , dont je n’ai pas connaissance, soit considéré comme inexistant et sans valeur, comme la poussière de la terre.
d
) En attendant le lendemain matin – moment où il sera brûlé- le Hamets sera placé dans un lieu sûr. Il faudra mettre de côté tout aliment ou Hamets réservé à la vente ou à la consommation avant l’heure de la destruction.
e) Le matin du VENDREDI 26 MARS, vers 11:42 am nous brûlons le Hamets qui a été trouvé la veille pendant la recherche.

MEKHIRAT HAMETS : VENTE DU HAMETS
Tout le Hamets qui se trouve à la maison, au bureau ou dans tout autre endroit qui nous appartient, devrait être vendu AVANT le jeudi 25 MARS. Prière d’écrire à
macommunauté@maghenabraham .com avant le 25 MARS pour
pouvoir remettre votre nom et adresse au rabbin qui s’occupera de la vente et puis du rachat après la fête.
N’oubliez pas de mentionner l’endroit ou le Hamets est gardé.

D’habitude les premiers nés jeûnent la veille de la fête . Cette année ça tombe le Samedi. Comme on ne jeûne pas le samedi, on avance le jeûne au jeudi Cependant il y a des rabbins qui annulent le jeûne et d’autres qui le gardent (entre nous , quelqu’un préférerait il le jeûne??)

Nous lisons Kal Hamira (voir ci-haut)
Jeudi matin 25 mars : Vendre le Hamets AVANT cette date
(et si possible joindre un petit don )
Vendredi le 26 mars : Biur Hamets : Brûler le Hamets avant 11:43
(Ne pas réciter Kal Hamira)et continuer à le manger
Vendredi soir le 26 mars : Dîner du Chabbat: Hamotsi sur 2 Pitas
Pour ne pas salir la table du diner
Le diner doit être complétement Kacher Lapessah
Utiliser des assiettes, ustensils et nappe en plastique
Samedi matin le 27 mars :Repas du déjeuner matinal avec 2 Pitas
Arrêter de manger le Hamets avant 10:26 am
Et jeter tous les plastiques et les pitot restantes avant 11:42 am
